What are they like?

Generally, very attractive and virtually indistinguishable from western girls, apart from their accents! However, their culture is different from ours. 'Women's Rights' and strident Feminist issues do not interest them; they are far less concerned with material wealth and more determined to be good wives and mothers. A woman, even if she is a top doctor, lawyer, or scientist, would prefer a happy and stable family life to the pursuit of her own career. Although very feminine they have a very high work ethic and try hard to create a comfortable home and please their husbands in every way. They enjoy showing affection to the men in their lives, and tend to make their minds up quickly.


Why haven't they already married locally?

Unfortunately, their men have a different culture to ours, too! Heavy drinking, particularly spirits, and excessive smoking are the norm and considered 'macho' but are repellant to most women. Infidelity by the men is widespread and domestic violence is far too common; no doubt made worse by the sense of helplessness that many men feel in such a ramshackle economy. Poor post-natal care and a high death rate amongst the men, owing to their unhealthy lifestyle, means that there are fewer men available, and they age far faster than their western counterparts. Many of the most attractive and intelligent women can see no reason why they should tolerate this situation.


Why do they wish to leave home?

They don't. It is their home, and it is where their friends are. However, the area has been unstable for centuries and periodic destruction, rapine and massacre by one despot or another has been a routine fact of life there. To a woman her family is the most important thing in the world and many dream of raising a family in a safe, secure and loving home.


What would put them off a man?

Excessive drinking and heavy smoking are obnoxious to the majority although, light drinking (a few glasses of wine or beer) is considered to be sophisticated. Russian women like their man to be master of the household but they wish to be treated like the ladies they are and bullying or domineering attitudes are greatly disliked. Domestic violence is of course, completely unacceptable.


What would attract them to a man?

Looks and age are not very important but it is imperative to them that a man is decent, honorable, truthful and loving. A desire to have children is also very important for the younger women. They are very hard working themselves and appreciate a reliable, trustworthy man who will do his best to provide a regular income for their home and family. It is common for them to marry men ten years or so older than themselves since age to them means maturity and stability.


Why would they prefer a western man?

They view other countries as a safe and secure place to bring up children. Western men are rightly believed to be more dependable, considerate, and faithful and more likely to return the love and affection they yearn to give to their chosen man.


What is their attitude to sex?

They have a healthy and natural approach to matters of a sexual nature, and they are largely free of the hang-ups that many western women suffer from! This does not mean that they are promiscuous - far from it, and one-night stands are frowned upon - but if they feel there is a real bond and a future with you they they will have the same desires as you; and they will let you know! You will in general find them far more affectionate, passionate and spontaneous than the women you are accustomed to. Please remember however that unexpected pregnancies can cause great complications and sensible precautions are essential.


Will there be a language problem?

We are mainly approached by the more intelligent and well educated women and a lot of them do speak English. Since most of these women are very intelligent and well educated, they tend to learn quickly. It is far easier for them to learn English than for you to learn their local dialect. English classes are inexpensive but you must remember that their pay is very low, so if you do meet someone special you may wish to contribute to their tuition fees.


How do I meet them?

You will have to be prepared to visit these women in their own country. The former USSR is very poor by our standards and even the highest qualified professional women there would find it virtually impossible to visit you in the West. If for some reason you cannot travel THERE IS NO POINT in you contacting any women there, they are looking for genuine men who will work together with them to provide a warm, loving home and family. They are not looking for pen friends.
